LA FORESTA DEI VIOLINI @INTERNI HUMAN SPACES

The wood is at the center of the project, which sees CityLife as main partner. Two large trunks of red fir emerge from the loggia of the courtyard of the Università Statale: the roots suspended over the void overlook the balustrade on the courtyard, supported by an architectural easel. Trees pulled-out  by the wind, segments of memory, as testimony to the violated nature.The two trunks were salvaged after  last autumn impetuous wind storm in Italy North East that that caused a massacre estimated at about 14 million trees. The easel, protected by ILVA wood varnishes: as a medium  of basic support, a bridge between things and ideas: a geometric figure that lives in the carving of wood, in the grafting of straight lines, is a sum of uniqueness..

Simple, common and universal symbol of the ancestral relationship between technology and nature, raw material and transformation.

Made of carved red fir, it is the archetype of the work of the repairing man.

The dimensions are amplified, the roles turned upside down, the priorities recognized. Nature comes first.

All this is a tribute to the territories and forests of  Italy North East affected by bad weather last autumn; to the cultures that have built crafts on that nature; to the wood supply chain that originates from those territories; to the arts that have been able to make out of those woods,  musical instruments and to the artists that play  those instruments to return to men emotions in music.
