April 2017

A collective exhibition with 35 designers and 3 installations, where to see, touch, taste, feel design. And also buy it!

For its second edition, Milan Design Market is moving to Isola, where it will be one of the most important events of Isola Design District, the new District of Milan Design Week.
Its new location will be the Gianni Rizzotti Photographer Studio, a beautiful 400 square meters loft, hosting 35 emergent designers and brands from all over the world, who will exhibit and sell their products.

One of the main attractions will be a robot producing 3D printed objects for the whole week, a R&D project by Caracol Design Studio in partnership with WeMake. They have created this installation in order to demonstrate the 4.0 fabrication process, making unique clay artefacts produced by a robotic arm with 6 axis that some selected artists can handle, painting them one by one.

There will be also space for green design with the Suspended Garden byBici&Radici, a Milanese project on the theme of sustainability, and the modular suspended lamps Junit, realized by the German firm Schneid Lighting & Furniture, thanks to whom it has recently received the prestigious German Design Award.

Patrick Palcic, a german talented designer, will offer to visitors an innovative fragrance experience with his two projects: Odor Per Imbrem, which emits bubbles of different fragances, and Copper Clock, which uses fragrances to indicate the hour.

The design studio Zup Design is presenting Lighted, an installation with floor and suspended lamps projected by the designer Marco Williams Fagioli, prized with Compasso d’Oro ADI in 2016. Starting from hand-made matrices and being inspired by techniques typical of the art of incision, Lighted turns an inert matter as the cement on a shining object.

Particular importance has the interactive exhibition of the designerFederica Cristaudo, main partner of the event. Dedalo, her collection of accessories, consists of plastic shapes and materials traditionally produced with gold, leaf and carbon fibres. The final result is simply unique.

Another interesting presence is Copper Hyerogliphs, a project by Pietro Algranti and Leti Paternieri. Oxidations, scratches and solderings are only some of the visual messages left to the materials which this instrument intercepts, transforming them into sounds and noises.

At Milan Design Market design can be also eaten, tasting the products ofIla Glacé, which is not only a brand of ice-cream but a concept which raises the world of ice cream to art and design. Ilaria Forlani, the creative mind of the brand, is showing her original creations such as Mini Stecchi and Ice Stones.

This year the exhibition will be also contaminated by art, thanks to the presence of the collective Timmerman. 12 creations, 12 artists, 12 italian stories for an installation that will be a tribute to the world of creators and makers, in particular to all the ones that live behind the final product: the people and their experience. A slow path of beautiful ideas falling from the sky, in the form of fabrics used by designers to express their thoughts.

From April 4th to 9th, from 11:00AM to 9:00PM, visitors can also enjoy The Room's street food flavors and participate in talks, workshops and other events organized throughout the week. On Tuesday 4th and Saturday 8th the space will remain open until midnight for the opening and closing events of the district, with live music and dj sets.
