Musica Da Viaggio. Vito Nesta nelle stanze di Giuseppe Verdi.

Color, decorations and historic citation: Vito Nesta intervenes in the room of the hotel where Giuseppe Verdi lived for 30 years with site-specific unseen installations.

The Grand  Hotel et de Milan is a symbolic spot for the city, rich in meaningful events which traced his 150 and more years of presence. Since the end of the ‘800, being the only hotel in Milan providing postal and telegraphic services, it hosted men and women who made history: diplomats, entrepreneurs, artists from all over the world, often related to the nearby Teatro alla Scala.
The space is completely in line to his taste, he who makes use of memory as an infinite archive useful to create a new design that embraces colour, decoration and exchange with history. No coincidence the personal ‘musica da viaggio’ was conceived as a site-specific project for the ‘Stanze di Giuseppe Verdi’, where the Master lived for about 30 years during his long stays in Milan, and where he died in 1901.
Among original furniture there is on display a string of installations in an architectural scale that play well with the colour gamut, just like Verdi employed melody and harmony in order to compose his scores.

For the first time great installations are installed in the historic rooms of Giuseppe Verdi, little known to the general public. The large format though is not the only unprecedented element Vito Nesta is introducing in this exhibition. The real innovation is in the material chosen: leather, the fundamental element of the production for this occasion, it shows its extreme adaptability and its expressiveness applied to a refined project that declares its deep belonging to the city of Milan.
