Appointment in October with the third edition of the festival, which this year announces a widespread programme of events throughout the city.
Lake Como Design Fair, for its third edition, has announced a new format: Lake Como Design Festival. The festival will take place from 5 to 10 October and will propose a theme that will be developed through a series of events in the historic centre of Como and its lake, balancing the private and public dimensions through the involvement of local realities.
"As in previous editions, LCDF continues in its intention to make historic places accessible through design, with the aim of promoting and sharing the artistic and architectural heritage present in the area," said Lorenzo Butti, creator and artistic director of the Festival.
The Ridotto of the Teatro Sociale in Como, the heart of the previous editions of the festival, will host the exhibition History Repeating. I designer guardano alla storia (History Repeating. Designers look at history), curated by Marco Sammicheli, who has just been appointed curator for the Design, Fashion and Crafts sector and Superintendent of the Italian Design Museum at the Milan Triennale. The exhibition explores the history of modern and contemporary design like an archipelago of islands to be navigated.
The spaces of Palazzo Mantero, the former historical headquarters of Mantero Seta and residence of the family, as well as one of the first and most interesting projects of Gianni Mantero, will host The Originals, a selection of the best international design galleries of the 20th century invited to reflect on the theme of icons and their interpretations. In addition, new exhibition itineraries, screenings and a programme of talks will be set up in the city centre.
