MUTONIA MILANO
On the occasion of miart and Design Week 2024, the independent agency Jungle, in collaboration with Cookies and Babooth, hosts "Mutonia Milano" in the spaces of via Tagiura 17, an open-air exhibition featuring some sculptures and photographs by the Mutoid Waste Company collective, freely accessible from April 12 to 18.
The cyberpunk aesthetic meets environmental themes, and recycling transforms into a lens through which to create art by shaping scraps of iron and plastic materials. Mutonia Milano offers an almost literal interpretation of the main theme of miart 2024, titled "no time no space" inviting to transcend the spatial and temporal boundaries of reality. In this sense, creative reuse becomes the ideal solution to extend the life of matter, which emerges from the space and time for which it was molded and becomes a work of art designed to fascinate and provoke reflection in the viewer.
The exhibition, comprising 8 scenic sculptures and a series of photographic prints on display in the shared spaces of SOL at via Tagiura 17, curated by Jungle, Cookies, and Babooth, will be open to the public and freely accessible from April 12 to 18 from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm.
Mutonia Milano is curated by Lyle Rowell "Doghead," Debs Wrekon, and Lucia Lupan, three artists belonging to the Mutoid Waste Company collective founded in London in the mid-1980s and later relocated to Santarcangelo di Romagna, famous for the production of gigantic cyberpunk artworks called "Mutoids." The group's name is inspired by a British TV series where Mutoids were reconditioned human beings devoid of personality, a universe that influenced the production of original and scenic sculptures - sometimes mobile - used in performances and exhibitions recognized and appreciated internationally.
from Friday 12 to Thursday 18 April 2024, from 11.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.
