BEYOND BLUE: AI-Enhanced Denim Fashion by China's Rising Designers
From an original idea by JUNAN DENIM DESIGN CITY (JDDC) and FABIO VERDELLI | DESIGN STUDIO, comes the exhibition 'BEYOND BLU: Denim Trends and Artificial Intelligence in the Creations of Emerging Chinese Designers’.
BEYOND BLUE highlights the importance of collaborative design: a dialogue between different countries, but also between different generations and between man and machine. The collection presented is the result of the work of students, young Chinese fashion designers, and professionals in Italian product design, who have developed their visions with the help of the most advanced artificial intelligence technologies. BEYOND BLUE celebrates the differences and the clash of ideas between cultures and natures. All the works, developed from the fascinating and cosmopolitan tradition of Denim, project us into a future and conceivable world, where the barriers between the possible and the imaginable are overcome, and where we catch the first impressions of the new worlds that are about to materialize.
The majority of the creations on display come from the seventh edition of the JUN'AN DENIM CUP, a competition dedicated to innovation in the denim and jeans industry. The authors are Chinese students or emerging designers who have placed among the finalists of the competition. Providing a counterpoint to this linguistic and stylistic research are the two proposals from FABIO VERDELLI | DESIGN STUDIO, which explore the theme from the perspective of product design, offering a reflection on fashion accessories and their possible development fueled and caused by the proliferation of the latest technologies, such as virtual reality or artificial intelligence. The finalists of the JUNAN CUP design and create garments that evolve traditional material, imparting a contemporary and proximate taste in the new reinterpretation of an ancient yet still surprising fabric. On the other hand, the designers at FABIO VERDELLI | DESIGN STUDIO, as special guests, envision the microcapsule 'HASOR Multifuture,' a collection consisting of the 'VR HAT,' a headgear designed to facilitate the use of augmented reality goggles even while on the move, and the 'Device TOP,' a cape that provides dedicated spaces for the numerous electronic devices that we are all increasingly accustomed to carrying daily, from sports cameras to smartglasses, from smartphones to earphones, from power banks to tablets.
