The architecture and engineering firm Nou Group arrives in Milan with Cassandra Mission, the first ever tram coming from the future. More precisely from 2124, a potentially dystopian future.

Cassandra Mission, with a name symbolizing ignored prophecies, is a traveling installation touring the streets of Milan. A historic tram, whose iconic beauty has long endured through time, survives even in a dystopian future, adapting its purpose as a vehicle to serve as a time capsule, traveling through Space. Covered in a holographic film, which enhances its futuristic appearance, it houses an emblematic element within: the last fragment of greenery left on Earth, a powerful symbol of the importance of sustainable actions, serving as both warning and inspiration for today’s generation.

Cassandra Mission brings with it a clear message: WE CAN BE THE FUTURE. Inside the time capsule, the “mirror of consciusness” is hosted, inviting visitors to reflect on their environmental impact with a simple yet powerful concept: the future of the Earth depends on the choices we make today.

During the Design Week, the tram will also host a series of talks dedicated to sustainability, with high-profile multidisciplinary speakers: designers, environmental experts and academics. These meetings aim to stimulate collective reflection on the urgency of adopting more responsible behaviors to preserve our planet.

The tour through the two planned routes will touch the key points of the Milan Design Week, starting from via Cesare Cantù and crossing the iconic places of the city, in a journey that unites past, present and future.

Participants will be given the opportunity to leave a thought, prediction or wish for the future in the “time capsule”, creating a tangible bond with future generations and underlining the importance of every single contribution in combating climate change.
