DIURNO Panter&Tourron Davide Rapp
On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2024, Gianmaria Sforza invited in his studio, emptied for this occasion, the Lausanne based design duo Panter&Tourron and the video artist and director Davide Rapp, who works between Milan and Paris, to set up the octagonal space of 'Studio di pittura' with a site-specific installation entitled DIURNO.
DIURNO is an invitation to take a break from the hustle and bustle of Milan's design week, a speackeasy-style secret lounge where guests can relax in a setup that oscillates between nostalgia and science fiction, and integrates a collection of original furniture designed by Panter&Tourron with a never-before-seen video installation by Davide Rapp.
Studio di pittura invites artists and designers from abroad to temporarily occupy the space with a project in collaboration with an Italian artist. A site-specific installation, which can be visited by appointment, where guests can get to know the artists and their work in an informal and convivial atmosphere.
In a hybrid dimension between living room and passage room, the installation presents the limited edition collection HALL by Panter&Tourron, conceived specifically for this occasion. The series of furniture and lighting draws inspiration from hospitality environments and features six archetypal works. These include a modular sofa platform, a tubular floor lamp, an ultralight chandelier, mirrored stools and vases, and a series of screen shelves.
Davide Rapp will present a series of three videos installed inside Diurno, and one of these among the tables of Pasticceria Giovanni Cova & C. A montage of hundreds of cinematic interiors, digitally manipulated in a sequence that highlights their colours, materials and moods.
This year the set-up is enriched by the special collaboration with Emanuela Rossi and Gianmatteo Malchiodi and the tableware project 'La Colombarola', which produced the special linen cocktail coasters embroidered with the DIURNO brand. The special design of the characters are a nostalgic reference to the monograms used to personalise napkins, tablecloths and linens since the 19th century.
The installation will be open to the public - by appointment only - from Saturday 13 to Saturday 20 April (12 noon to 6 pm). For the follow-up, photos by Giulio Boem and a film by Davide Rapp and Luca Quagliato (Nepente Film) will be produced for publication.
Access is fre at Pasticceria Guivanni Cova & C. For the installation tour at Studio di Pittura, access is by reservation only while spaces last during the hours 12-6 p.m.
