Jaipur Rugs: Playing with Tradition
Playing with Tradition is an exciting nine-piece collection that celebrates the rich heritage of hand-knotted wool rugs. This collection artfully blends centuries-old traditions with contemporary design and a touch of humour. Exhibiting at Jaipur Rugs’ flagship showroom on Via Marco Minghetti, this collaboration harmonizes Richard Hutten’s innovative vision with Jaipur Rugs’ exceptional craftsmanship and technical expertise. showcasing innovative elements such as 3D textures, layered traditional motifs and playful confetti-inspired patterns, this exhibition is reinterpreting the age-old craft of hand-knotted rugs with a modern twist.
The vibrant confetti colours, inspired by India’s Holi festival, infuse the collection with a sense of celebration and joy. The whimsical inclusion of bananas pays homage to the timeless humour of silent film icons like Laurel and Hardy and Charlie Chaplin.
Jaipur Rugs is renowned for its dedication to ethical and sustainable design, and this collection embodies a commitment to longevity and artistry. Each rug is meticulously handmade by skilled artisans in Rajasthan, using natural wool, which is prized for its durability and graceful ageing alongside silk, valued for its renewable and biodegradable properties. While contemporary in style, the Playing with Tradition collection captures a timeless essence, designed to become cherished heirlooms and the antiques of tomorrow.
