NATURALEZA VESTIDA

Naturaleza Vestida: the Canarian landscapes become fashion

Naturaleza Vestida is an innovative project where fashion comes to life and merges with the nature of the Canary Islands. Conceived by architect and designer Giulio Ceppi, in dialogue with Diego Barroso Morales, a young emerging Canarian fashion designer, for PROEXCA, the project will be showcased at Corso Garibaldi 44 during Milan Design Week, from April 8 to 13.

In Naturaleza Vestida, four outfits evoke four iconic landscapes of the Canary Islands, synthesizing the aesthetics of the territory through an evocative interpretation. Fashion becomes the key to understanding the environment, allowing an immediate and profound appreciation of the natural values of these islands.

Allegory is the essence of the project: “I chose this design approach to represent the fashion production realities of the Canary Islands, emphasizing the unbreakable bond between local textile craftsmanship and the richness and beauty of the landscapes,” says Giulio Ceppi.

Four meta-landscapes intertwine climatic aspects, vegetation, endemic species, and cultural and anthropological references. These elements translate into color selections, textures, and materials, creating an aesthetic that celebrates environment identity.

The artistic interpretation of this research has been entrusted to Diego Barroso Morales, who has transformed the four meta-landscapes into four meta-outfits, visually expressing the following categories: High_Vulcanic, Sub_Tropical, Semi_Desertic, Med_Oceanic.

These meta-outfits, some of which are made from an innovative fiber derived from orange peel waste and produced by Tessuti di Sondrio, are true visual narratives capable of transporting the viewer to the heart of the Canary Islands. They reveal a bridge between Milanese design culture and the expressive power of the archipelago, between design and fashion, local and global, nature and artifice.
