The Polo Chair, "Where Legends Begins"

An upcycling project by La Martina.

In the world of polo, victory isn’t forged solely on the field, it starts in the quiet moments before the match … It begins on a chair. This is the place where players lace their boots, tighten their knee guards, and take a deep breath before
charging into the game. It’s where strategy meets spirit, where nerves turn into determination, and where the legacy of the sport is carried forward.
For Salone del Mobile, La Martina transforms the pulse of polo into a new form of artistry:
Upcycled chairs.
Each chair is a masterpiece, handcrafted by skilled artisans who honor the material, respecting every thread, every stitch, every fold, infused with La Martina’s DNA, designed with the codes of polo: the raw beauty of harnesses, the worn leather of bridles, the flowing fringes, the protective power of saddlery pads, all elements that stand as silent guardians of the game’s spirit. The same precision that a craftsman pours into shaping fine leather, stitching a saddle, or balancing a mallet is now reimagined into design. These chairs are not just seats; they are a tribute to the meticulous artistry that fuels both polo and La Martina, a fusion of tradition, skill, and reinvention. More than an object, each chair is a story. A story of heritage, sustainability, and the hands that shape them both on the field and in the workshop.
Join us in this unique celebration of design and sport, where tradition is reimagined, and every detail speaks of mastery. Because before every great match, there is a chair. And before the chair, there are hands that craft the game.

But beyond the chair, there is another silent witness to the game: The polo shirt.
It carries the dust of the field, the weight of competition, the thrill of victory, and the
lessons of defeat. Stretched, stained, and worn through countless matches, every thread
holds a memory, of a galloping horse, of a last-second goal, of a moment frozen in time.
