ARCHITETTURA PER FIORI

From April 7 to 13, 2025, during Milan Design Week, Officine Saffi Lab is pleased to present ARCHITETTURA PER FIORI, a new collection by Ronan Bouroullec exploring the dialogue between ceramics and glass, in collaboration with WonderGlass.

Architettura per fiori is an invitation to appreciate the dialogue between crafts, objects and the organic world. At the heart of this project is an exploration of color, both as material and surface, resulting from an intensive research process conducted by Ronan Bouroullec in collaboration with Officine Saffi Lab and WonderGlass. Specifically developed for the collection, the ceramic glazes embody a quiet yet profound beauty—muted, layered, and rich in depth. Each tone and texture has been carefully calibrated, allowing light to shift and reveal the subtle complexity of the surfaces.

Architettura per fiori is a collection of vases that plays with contrast and harmony, balancing the weight of solid glass with the elegance of ceramic volumes. The glass captures and holds light within its depths, while the ceramic responds with delicate, layered glazes—vibrant, nuanced, and rich with subtle movement. Simple geometric forms reveal their complexity through the interplay of light, color, and the shifting shadows the glass casts onto the ceramic. There's a quiet poetry to them—an atmosphere reminiscent of Giorgio Morandi’s still lifes, where composition, tone, and luminosity speak in a language of their own.” Ronan Bouroullec.

Bouroullec’s vision is one of balance and restraint. The forms are architectural yet delicate, structured yet open to material’s unpredictability. The transparency of glass interacts with the richness of ceramic glazes, inviting the audience to a close observation—revealing their intricacies over time.

This exhibition is a tribute to the power of material experimentation. Officine Saffi Lab, known for its innovative approach to ceramics, and WonderGlass, a guardian of Venetian glassmaking traditions, have pushed the boundaries of their respective crafts, refining techniques that allow color and light to merge in poetic and subtle ways.

A selection of pieces from the collection is also featured in the installation Poetica, presented by WonderGlass at Istituto dei Ciechi, Via Vivaio 17, Milan —an exhibition showcasing new works by Vincent Van Duysen and Ronan Bouroullec.
