Dropcity
Starting from Thursday, April 3rd (7:00 PM), Dropcity presents its new exhibition spaces dedicated to two research projects: Prison Times - Spatial Dynamics of Penal Environments, spanning an area of over 1,500 square meters, unveils an investigation into time and space in detention centers. In parallel, the exhibition Bruther.fbx brings together, for the first time, the work of Bruther, a Paris-based architecture and research studio. Both exhibitions are part of a broader program that includes installations, conferences, and workshops.
Prison Times: Spatial Dynamics of Penal Environments is an unprecedented exploration into time and space in detention centres. The exhibition showcases objects from prisons around the world, and raises questions about the role of design and architecture as practices that reinforce the prison industrial complex. Prison Times marks the transformation of Dropcity into a dynamic cross-disciplinary platform that stimulates public dialogue around underreported issues.
Bruther.fbx brings together, for the first time in Italy, the work of Bruther, a Paris-based architecture and research studio. The exhibition explores the themes and techniques central to Bruther’s practice, and presents the office’s work as a spatial investigation. Combining contemporary technologies with physical artefacts, Bruther.fbx is an immersive, ever-evolving research project that invites reflection on architecture’s relationship with contemporary life.
PUBLIC MEETINGS
Two series of public meetings will animate the Dropcity Auditorium (tunnel 40).
Reform Trust: Ideas on Penal Environments, curated by Federica Verona and Valeria Verdolini is a program of discussions planned, through May 13, in parallel with the exhibition Prison Times: Spatial Dynamics of Penal Environments.
Beautiful Mistakes, curated by Benjamin Gallegos Gabilondo, is a series of talks involving architects and designers, emerging and established, called upon to share their most significant projects and professional experiences.
