In Italy, prior to 2015 Hines developed the Porta Nuova area in Milan. Since 2016, under the leadership of Mario Abbadessa, Senior Managing Director & Country Head, Hines has become one of the most active real estate players in the Italian market, with investments to date exceeding 6 billion euros. Mainly in Milan, Florence and Bologna, Hines focuses on the investment and regeneration of trophy assets for executive and high street retail use; development in the Living area, declined in student housing, multifamily and senior living; development of significant urban regeneration, logistics and the data center sector.
