Slow Food is a global movement where activists, organized into convivia, communities and thematic networks promote the safeguarding of biodiversity through taste education and advocacy, fostering dialogue between society and institutions.
Founded in 1986, Slow Food is committed to promoting the right to pleasure and to good, clean and fair food for all as part of the quest for prosperity and happiness for present and future humankind and for the entire living network.
Since the Slow Food Manifesto was drafted in 1987, it has worked to give proper value to food, practicing and spreading respect for those who produce it in harmony with the environment and ecosystems, thanks to the knowledge treasured by local territories and traditions.
Fully aware of the climate and environmental crises and their economic, social and health consequences, Slow Food today acts through its projects and networks, inviting everyone to give a sign of hope and to make a choice for individual and collective well-being: feeling good, to feel better with those around us, people but also other living beings. Having an ecosystem-friendly and resilient approach first and foremost improves the quality of our lives and those around us. This is our way of making a contribution to improve the future.
