Brands IED X Igor Lima

Amazonian designer Igor Lima completed his education in 2018 at IED - Istituto Europeo di Design in São Paulo. Aiming to enrich his cultural background and enhance his ability to convey the memories and traditions of his homeland, Igor furthered his studies at IED Milano and explored the vast world of design in Helsinki. Concurrently, he engaged in personal projects and had the opportunity to work with artisanal craftsmanship, particularly connected to wood carpentry. He dedicated himself to studying traditional carpentry techniques, adopting a simple and rational design approach while exploring the richness of native woods and the various ways to work with them.

One of the distinctive traits of the Igor Lima Studio is the incorporation of forest references, highlighting an appreciation for natural lines and unique design. The studio's design philosophy blends ancestry with minimalism and elegance, nuances inspired by Igor's experiences worldwide. Despite being only two years old, Igor Lima Studio has already gained significant recognition in the design sector. Igor Lima Studio made its presence felt at various fairs, including MADE in 2022 and 2023, DW São Paulo in 2023 and 2024, Berlin Design Week in 2023, and Expo Revestir in 2024. Its achievements include being a finalist at the Salão Design in 2022 and receiving an award at the Museu da Casa Brasileira Contest in 2023.

Product Description

This unique piece, inspired by the majestic geological formations of Presidente Figueiredo in the Amazon, is deeply meaningful for the designer. Crafted from cacheta wood, later ebonized to highlight its elegance and strength, the sideboard evokes the sinuous beauty and robustness of Amazonian rocks. It reflects the essence of the forest, inviting reflection on our connection with the natural environment. As one moves around the Rocca, the visual experience transforms. What at first appears as a robust and imposing structure gradually reveals delicacies, nuances, and shadows that change with light and perspective. This visual metamorphosis emphasizes the idea that nature and art are not static; they live, breathe, and change as we interact with them.
