Brands Martinelli Luce

In 1953 Martinelli Luce was founded in the centre of Lucca, in a basement that Elio Martinelli - founder of the company - called ‘Laboratorio’. It was here that his creativity was best expressed and took shape, giving life to simple objects that were rich in personality.

Between the 1960s and 1970s, Elio Martinelli established himself as one of the most influential designers on the Italian scene and passed on his strong passion and creativity to his daughter Emiliana, who, in addition to being an architect and designer, has been running the company for many years together with her son Marco, who holds the role of CEO.

The company has collaborated and still collaborates with renowned designers such as Gae Aulenti, Paola Navone, Karim Rashid, Marc Sadler, Sergio Asti, Studio Natural and Brian Sironi. Each of them has been able to interpret light in a unique way and has designed timeless, functional lamps for Martinelli Luce, always in balance with the brand's distinctive canons, many of which have won important international awards such as Elica (Compasso d'Oro 2011), Multidot, Avro, Infinita, Dia, Lunaop, Colibrì, Calabrone.

Some of these products have contributed to the history of lighting and occupy a place in museums of contemporary art or design history such as the MoMa in New York and the Triennale in Milan. The company's production is subdivided into three families of lighting fixtures suited to respond to different usage needs: Lamps (decorative) - Architectural (systems for contract use) - Outdoor (gardens and outdoor spaces). In addition, to meet the demands of architects and designers, Martinelli Luce offers a bespoke service by designing lamps according to specific needs or customizing those already in the catalogue.
