Brands Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Italia
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international non-governmental, independent and non-profit organization established in 1993 to promote responsible management of forests and plantations. It includes among its members NGOs and environmental groups (WWF, Greenpeace), social groups (National Aboriginal Forestry Association of Canada), forest owners, industries that trade and process wood and paper products (Tetra Pak, Mondi), large-scale distribution groups , researchers and technicians, for a total of nearly 900 members.
The FSC brand
The FSC mark identifies products containing wood from sustainably-managed forests according to rigorous environmental, social and economic standards. The forest are independently controlled and assessed in accordance with these standards (principles and criteria of good forest management), established and approved by the Forest Stewardship Council a.c. through the participation and consent of all interested parties.
FSC in Italy
FSC Italia was founded in 2001 as a non-profit association, in harmony with the objectives of FSC International. Also in Italy the FSC brand has assumed a leading role in the forest products market such as wood, paper and non-wood products (such as cork), placing our country in second place in the international classification of FSC certifications of the Custody. FSC proposes itself as a point of reference for legality and sustainability in the wood-paper supply chain, in accordance with the most current standards of responsible management of the forest resource. With more than 500 companies already FSC-certified in the Italian furniture sector, certification is increasingly perceived as a tool not only to guarantee the origin of wood, ensure virtuous and transparent supply chains, but also to communicate positive impacts on forests and people and promote increasingly sustainable production systems.
