dID-TECHNOLOGICAL CLUSTER ON INTERIORS (living environments) & DESIGN is a technological cluster located in Tuscany (Italy) whose activities are mainly aimed at :

acting as a territorial (local and regional) mediator for supporting businesses, research organisations and stakeholders’ dialogue towards the development of systemic innovation processes in relation to R&D, training and internationalization scenarios for enhancing the production system competitiveness building strategic innovation project paths aimed at increasing the competitiveness of the member companies. creating international partnerships with other innovative and technological clusters identifying funding sources both public and private for innovation projects identifying the skills and training needs of the reference sectors sharing knowledge among cluster companies activating technology transfer processes from research organizations to participating companies

dID operates in the intermediation between demand (manufacturing companies) and offer (research bodies, research infrastructures, professionals) of innovation for the development of projects for the single company or systems of companies in terms of product, process and market innovation.

Matchmaking activities are planned by the Cluster each semester in order to organize the collaboration among companies, companies and the research system, public and private - matching of demand and supply of innovation; organization, sharing and dissemination of strategic information, with a view to economic intelligence; cluster marketing to promote the participation of new companies or other kinds of organizations; organizing seminars and conferences on focus topics.

dID also works in order to strengthen synergies with other regional, national or international clusters in order to gather from other clusters experiences and collaborate in the definition of future innovative projects for mutual interest.

dID, through its main founder CSM, carries out VET agency activities for the interior and design sector and through the Erasmus Program, has developed some partnerships aimed at defining paths, tools and methods for the innovation of skills and training of companies.

dID has been involved in the definition of regional Smart Specialisation Strategies since 2011 and has a key role in putting the S3 roadmaps in connection with the development of innovation projects on the levels of product, process, market and related competences.

dID. cooperates with all research infrastructures and laboratories in the Region of Tuscany (19 linked to universities of Florence, Siena, Pisa, SSSA and CNR) for which it promotes the activation of links with the manufacturing system by mediating the creation of collaborations finalised in R&D projects.

dID. represents a network of competences at national level including more than 380 companies (SMEs and big companies), 20 research organisations, and technological experts/professionals.

dID. activity is carried out on behalf of the Region of Tuscany. dID is a member of the EU CLUSTER COLLABORATION PLATFORM www.clustercollaboration.eu in which it identifies potential partners.

dID is a partner of New European Bauhaus and in this context participates in the definition of areas and has launched workshops and projects on the issues of the relationship between industrial and urban areas and on the principles of circular economy in widespread industrial areas, by involving research competences (young students).

Starting from April 2021 dID is partner of the Pact for Skills with the aim of sharing practices and defining activities in relation to skills and competences for the future in accordance with interests of the represented sectors.

dID is also co-founder of 2 National Technological Clusters (CTN): MinIT – Technological Cluster for the promotion of Made in Italy and SMILE – Technological Cluster for the Application of Smart Technologies to Living Environments.

dID is actually also a cluster mining node of a regional blockchain platform of which related traceability services are at disposal of the territorial cluster companies.
