Designers Emanuela Frattini Magnusson EFM Design

Emanuela Frattini Magnusson is a Milan-born architect and designer based in New York, NY and president of EFM Design, an award-winning, multi-disciplinary practice established in 1991. The firm’s output includes architecture, interiors, product design, brand development, and graphics.

From October 2013 through July 2017 she held the position of Global Head of Design at Bloomberg LP where she worked at the intersection of design and planning to create an expression of the corporate culture that matches the mission of the company at an international scope. Over the duration of her mandate she was responsible for the completion of over thirty projects spanning all regions (North and South America, Asia Pacific, EMEA).


She has also been the founder and principal designer of Articolo, a collection of European produced furniture, the creative director of Spinneybeck leather and the founder, CEO and designer of Manù, a line of luxury leather goods. Emanuela is a Board Member and Treasurer of Operation Design, a not-for-profit that promotes design education in public schools.


Throughout her career, she has created award-winning, top-selling products for leading manufacturers, including her Propeller Tables for Knoll, textiles collections for Momentum, the iconic Sky umbrella (in collaboration with Tibor Kalman) as well as a collection of accessories sold exclusively through the Museum of Modern Art. Emanuela has also served as a visiting faculty member at Parsons School of Design, Pratt Institute and at Yale University School of Architecture. Her architectural and design work has been widely published in the United States, Asia and Europe. A master graduate in architecture at the Milan Politecnico, she also holds an MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business. She is LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) accredited.
