Designers STANDARD404
Standard404 is an experimental design studio based between Madrid
and Eindhoven, founded by Stef Fusani.
The studio addresses the origin of production processes in relation
with the human habits of the 21st century. By doing so, it seeks to
make projects that rethink the role of design in the current society
and the cultural constructions associated with it. Using non-structured
design strategies and different materials and media, the aim of Stan-
dard404 is to develop new ways of seeing and engaging with contem-
porary material culture.
Stef Fusani has also worked as an independent curator, is co-founder
of the Madrid-based collective Molto Molto Fuori, a curatorial platform
active until 2019, and he is is co-founder of Malerbe (interdisciplinary
lab for research on contemporary material culture, since 2021)
He has taught at various universities between Madrid and Turin and
currently directs the annual project course at the IED university in
Turin. He has also taught numerous workshops at various schools and
academies, including the Polytechnic University of Madrid (ETSAM).
His work has been exhibited in galleries and exhibition spaces in Ma-
drid, Milan, London, New York and Berlin, as well as in different inter-
national fairs.
In his career, he has also developed different projects located in the
fluctuating space between art and design, analyzing the relationships
between visual culture, material culture and plastic
arts.
