Designers Cracking Art
The Cracking Art movement was born in 1993 with the intention to radically change the history of art through a strong social and environmental commitment. The revolutionary use of plastic materials investigates the close relationship between natural and artificial reality.
Cracking Art's artworks are designed to inspire a community-wide conversation about the anthropic effect on the natural environment through engaging performative projects in which plastic regeneration and out-of-scale installations - such as the worldwide known coloured animals- invade all kind of spaces, from those that are normally dedicated to art exhibit to then appear unexpectedly in everyday places.
The group dimension doesn’t limit each individual artist’s creativity: each member of the movement also works independently to develop their own interpretation of contemporary problems and tensions.
In addition to three official participations at the Venice Biennale (2001, 2011 and 2013), recent exhibitions and installations include: Cracking Art @Harbour City, diffuse installations at Harbour City Hong Kong (2023) Open Art Festival (2022), Orebro, Sweden; Incanto (2021), Salone degli Incanti and City Center, Trieste, Italy; Wild Rising (2019), at Desert Botanical Garden, Phoenix, Arizona, USA; Regeneration@Newhollandisland (2019), at New Holland Island, St. Petersburg, Russia; Spectaculars Creatures (2018), at IMA Indianapolis Museum of Art - Indianapolis, USA; BarocCracking (2018), at Palazzo Leoni Montanari - Gallerie d'Italia, Vicenza, Italy; Cracking Art@Hangang Art Park (2018) at Hangang Park, Seoul, Korea.
