Milan and the challenges of tomorrow: Fuorisalone was a moment of confrontation. See you again from 15 to 21 April 2024.
It was the return to the usual calendar, with design as the protagonist in April. Milano Design Week has once again become a real landmark, reflecting the central role of the Milanese city for the design industry and the event as a unique development model.
Fuorisalone was an opportunity to discover a city in ferment and in constant evolution, animated by the will to question and improve. Milano Design Week is all this: a time when today's big questions, from the climate issue to the sustainability of metropolises and production processes, come to the surface and enter the debate.
As the title of the edition suggests, “Laboratorio Futuro”, Fuorisalone was a great space for experimentation where brands, designers, universities, curators and artists met to try to imagine new visions and languages to innovate.
Fuorisalone was an opportunity to discover the beauty of the city's historical buildings such as Palazzo Broggi, Palazzo Serbelloni, Palazzina Appiani, Palazzo Treves, Palazzo Orsini, Palazzo Bovara, Palazzo Citterio, Palazzo Litta, Palazzo Reale, Palazzo Isimbardi, Palazzo Turati, Palazzo Senato, Palazzo Visconti and the Circolo Filologico Milanese.
But also to explore places that are usually inaccessible, as in the case of Palazzo Treves, in the heart of the Brera Design District, the former Slaughterhouse of Porta Vittoria, an immense abandoned complex of about 15 hectares in the southern part of the city populated by the creativity of Alcova. And again, Convey, which has opened the doors of a former factory recently redeveloped in front of the Farini station, and Morel Milano, 7 thousand square metres converted into an event space. In the end, Istituto Marchiondi Spagliardi, a Brutalist masterpiece by architect Vittoriano Viganò, and Dropcity, the new home of Architecture and Design in Milan, a stone's throw from Milano Centrale.
The award was conceived by Studiolabo and realised by Pollodesign Factory, a Milan-based design and production company.
