Fuorisalone meets Studio Wok

Design — 04 July 2023

Founded in Milan in 2012 by Marcello Bondavalli, Nicola Brenna, and Carlo Alberto Tagliabue, Studio Wok focuses on research related to architecture, design, and landscape, earning a mention in Wallpaper's Architects Directory in 2019 as one of the most promising on the global scene.

The design phase at Studio Wok sees the concept of habitat understood as "quality of living" as an essential starting point, conceiving spaces, whether urban or residential, as places that dictate and shape our habits.

Studio Wok's design process pays great attention to the physical characteristics of the host environment. Landscape, local materials, atmosphere, and light are all elements that guide the project's design phase. Sustainability, in fact, is the second pillar in the studio's design and construction process, which favors materials of natural origin. This choice once again places the interaction between humans, artificial space, and the natural environment at the center of research, recognizing in natural materials the ability to evolve over time in symbiosis with the architectural structure that incorporates them.

The Pan Milano bakery and wine bar by Studio Wok is an architectural project that well summarizes the design philosophy of the studio. Inspired by Japanese culture, the Pan Milano project was conceived with the harmonious and silent relationship with the neighborhood as its primary objective.

The large windows framed in chestnut wood, together with the external green fiberglass seats that recall the bread counter inside the restaurant, create a natural dialogue between the internal and external environment, between domestic and urban space.

The ultimate goal of Studio Wok's interior and architecture projects is to create the best possible environmental conditions, considering the inhabited space "like a dress that, instead of being worn, is experienced.”
