After the success of the last edition, Stockholm Design Week returns with a pop-up event this autumn, scheduled from September 5 to 9, 2023.
Established in February 2002, Stockholm Design Week has consistently aimed to promote, unite, and fortify the design scene in the Swedish capital.
Participating in this pop-up edition are numerous Swedish brands, including the lighting brand Belid, which will unveil its new collaboration with the Swedish duo Färg & Blanche. Remaining in the field of lighting, architect Andreas Martin-Löf will launch a new brand, _UNTITLED, exploring the dualism between craftsmanship and industry, function, and the emotional sphere.
Stockholm Design Week 2023, February Edition
One of the rooms at the Swedish History Museum will host the personal exhibition of designer Nick Ross, titled "Primitive Arrangements." The Swedish designer will present a collection of objects in cast metal and wood inspired by the earliest forms of architecture.
Among the key events on the Stockholm Design Week agenda is "The Production Novellas." This presentation showcases the results of a ten-year research project by Anna Holmquist, co-founder of the Folkform design studio, focusing on materials and their connection to their place of origin. Anna Holmquist will also lead a speech at the Audio Studio, sharing reflections on the ability of design to reconnect consumers with craftsmanship and local traditions.
Stockholm Design Week 2023, February Edition
The 100 Group will host a series of meetings and talks as part of the event titled "The Interior Design Industry's Role in Climate Transition." The primary goal of these talks is to share knowledge and experiences in the circular and sustainable furniture industry. Additionally, within the conference program, Hästens, a Swedish brand specializing in handcrafted beds, will host a meeting involving fashion designer Lars Nilsson.
During Stockholm Design Week, the design studio Gustaf Westman Objects will inaugurate its new space in Stockholm and unveil its brand new collection of furniture and objects. Furthermore, the Swedish design studio Kasthall, an expert in hand-woven carpets for years, will welcome visitors to its Flagship Store in Stockholm, revealing the secrets of the art of hand weaving.
Design Night Stockholm on Thursday evening will involve numerous furniture and design shops, extending their opening hours for visitors to Stockholm Design Week to discover new product lines and great offers.
The five days of events, exhibitions, conferences, workshops, and open studios will end on Saturday, September 9, with a widespread event in Södermalm: a block party in various clubs, studios, bars, and restaurants.
Stockholm Furniture Fair 2023
Finally, this autumn, Stockholm Design Week will introduce new initiatives linked to the upcoming Stockholm Furniture Fair in February, including "The Guest of Honor 2024."
