The open call for Milan Arch Week 2024 is now open

News, Appointments, Milan — 22 January 2024

You have until March 3rd to send proposals for the sixth edition, based on the theme Weak Architecture.

This year, the Milan Arch Week will also move outside its historic locations - the patio of the Milan Polytechnic, the spaces and garden of the Triennale Milano - to reach other widespread locations in the city, reaching the most external or less traveled, collaborating with local institutions and associations. Triennale Milano and Politecnico di Milano are therefore launching an open call to participate in the event which will be held from 21 to 26 May 2024, aimed at collecting proposals for initiatives and ideas to catalyze and network the various entities active in the area and encourage the involvement of places and people in a more widespread way.

This edition of Milan Arch Week - entitled Weak Architecture - aims to create a space for storytelling and reflection open to the many initiatives that these entities carry out in their territories of reference. The call is aimed at all those who wish to contribute to an active dialogue in the area: active citizens, institutions, associations and local entities, cooperatives, researchers, artists, professionals, student groups, design studios. The program therefore does not want to reach only citizens already interested in the themes of architecture and the city, but wants to expand by involving the inhabitants of the neighborhoods and different types of public.

Among the themes covered in this year's edition, implicit is the homage to two masters who recently passed away: Gianni Vattimo, philosopher of weak thought, and Andrea Branzi, designer of a weak and widespread Modernity. Weak Architecture wants to investigate the possibilities present in that "infinite set of 'little things'" that is the city. By gently questioning its fragilities, perspectives will emerge for looking at the city and cities with new eyes. The active voices of new communities will be listened to, the original paths traced by exceptional guides will be followed, subverting the point of view in the face of more consolidated realities; in short, the reasons why architecture can be the seed of change will be investigated. The proposals must be relevant to the themes of Weak Architecture and can be presented in different forms: debates, book presentations, laboratories and workshops, outdoor activities, visit itineraries, walks, concerts, shows. The scientific committee and curators of Milano Arch Week will select the proposals and projects chosen which will be included in the official program of the next edition of the event. The deadline for submitting proposals is March 3, 2024.

The call is available at this link.
