Curated by Milano Space Makers, the event programme reflects on the new phase that is transforming the design world. A phase of new codes and perspectives that is increasingly overturning what by now are tired and out-dated principles.
Tortona Rocks reaffirms itself as a fertile terrain for new design codes. An ever-mutating stage that year after year amplifies the experiential process of the projects, from its headquarters in Opificio 31, to Via Savona and Via Tortona.
Highlights of this year’s event in Tortona include big international names, cross-contaminations between art and design, and furniture.
Amongst these highly anticipated proposals, IKEA presents 1st, an exhibition with immersive installations and product novelties, inspired by the experience of the new generations of moving into their first home. For Archiproducts Milano, interiors become the key protagonist with AQUA, a new chapter in their collaboration with Studiopepe, which this year celebrates the vital role of water in our lives. Preciosa Lighting will be switching on Cristal Beat II, an installation where the tradition of Bohemian crystal fuses with modern technology, while Korean Noroo interprets its world in colour through the work of street artist Okuda San Miguel.
A prestigious showcase of Italian and international companies, where quality manufacturing and contemporary design are brought to life thanks to important partnerships. MIDJ’s furniture – some of which is designed by Paola Navone, Giulio Iacchetti and Karim Rashid – together with the Made in Italy proposals by Smania and Tonin Casa, are national examples of this selection. There is also Before Vintage Furniture from Japan, with their repertoire of pieces made from reclaimed wood, and FROMM who reinterpret Ottoman style through the vision of Antonio Aricò.
Corian® Design with Nature’s Canvas and Archiproducts with Autentico. Design Made in Puglia and The Tud Company will be on show at Opificio 31, which again this year is presented as a virtuous model of ‘transformation’ thanks to Waste-Less, an organisation that raises awareness of waste separation in public spaces.
The circuit continues in Via Tortona with the Japanese bud brand, while in Via Savona, The Playful Living returns with the A Casa Ovunque ‘24 (At Home Anywhere) event, a collaboration with the Sfera MediaGroup that combines physical and digital experiences to reflect on the new concept of hybrid spaces in the hospitality sector.
