Throughout the Design Week, art, collectible design and performances will animate the collective founded in 2019 by Belgian designer and architect Lionel Jadot, which will also host several collectives, including Belgium is Design, Atelier ECRU Gallery from Ghent and THEMA from Paris.
Baranzate Ateliers returns to Milan for a long-awaited second edition, which is set to be even larger and more ambitious than the first. Under the curatorship of Zavantem Ateliers, a creative hub dedicated to art and design founded by Belgian designer and architect Lionel Jadot in 2019, the collective exhibition will occupy the spaces of Via Gaudenzio Fantoli 16/3, a monumental 7,300 square metre 1950s industrial building near Linate. This year's programme will span across art, collectible design and performance throughout Design Week.

Baranzate Ateliers is the latest in a series of avant-garde initiatives that have transformed vast industrial 'wastelands' around Brussels, Paris, Lisbon and Milan into dynamic showcases for design talent, with a strong focus on handmade, experimental and innovative craftsmanship.
The curatorial programme of Baranzate Ateliers will present a panorama of work by 14 new designers from Zaventem Ateliers. Working in full synergy and guided by a deep commitment to social and environmental values, the designers have produced unique and innovative designs that harmoniously blend creativity and sustainability.

Among the creations are minimalist and functional wooden furniture by Arno Declerq, abstract tapestries by Studio KRJST, LED-cast bronze pendant lamps by DIM Atelier, metallic textiles by Adeline Halot and the brand new Resourcer coffee tables by Thomas Serruys, featuring rough-cut steel planets with forged legs, and a selection of rough but refined works by Maison Jonckers that fuse minerals and precious metals with coloured resins.

The programme is further enriched by a group of special guests working at the intersection of art, design, architecture and fashion, whose practices and philosophy align perfectly with the vision of Baranzate Ateliers. Among the works that will be unveiled by the 11 invited designers and design studios, mainly from France and Belgium, are three new series made of stone and wood blocks by Studio Khachatryan, an exhibition of carefully handcrafted furniture by Middernacht & Alexander, using recycled steel, pigments, resin and paint, and exquisite monochrome wall sculptures by Marijke De Cock, created in shades of royal blue, black and gold, and richly adorned with elegant glass beads.

Other highlights include unique hand-woven sheepskin rugs by Carine Boxy, hand-carved bronze lighting pieces by William Guillon and sculptural ceramics and functional vessels by Laura Pasquino, which seamlessly blend soft lines with rough finishes and explore the interplay between art and nature. The event will also welcome several collectives, including Belgium is Design, Atelier ECRU Gallery from Ghent and THEMA from Paris.
