For the second year of “The Art of Dreams” at Milan Design Week 2024, Porsche exhibits a one-of-a-kind, multidisciplinary celebration of pattern with “The Pattern of Dreams”.
Pattern takes center stage at the historic Palazzo Clerici within the Brera Design District for “The Art of Dreams” – Porsche’s travelling art and design series, marking its return to Milan Design Week 2024 for the second year. The arts initiative, born in Paris in 2021, invites artists to interpret the motif of dreams. For the fifth iteration, art collective Numen/For Use – led by product designers Sven Jonke, Christoph Katzler, and Nikola Radeljković, together with Croatian architect and scenographer Ivana Jonke – explores the iconic pepita pattern first exhibited in the Porsche 356 and later in the Porsche 911.

“Our idea of a waking dream was always one of a habitable utopia, of an alternative space and a speculative way of life,” says Numen/ For Use. The result? “Lines of Flight” – a monumental, interactive piece composed of metal cells forming large black and white net structures resembling a flock of birds frozen mid-flight – an image they saw within the pepita pattern.
“Lines of Flight” captures the notion of fleeing, eluding, and disappearing into the distance, where viewers can physically climb into the installation and explore the collective’s world of dreams firsthand.

A multidimensional experience, viewers will also experience pattern through original dance and music compositions, with choreography by Dutch duo Imre and Marne van Opstal and original music composition by Amos Ben-Tal in collaboration with Salvador Breed, exploring symmetry, repetition, fantasy, and freedom.
