Urban forests, innovative materials, 3D printing experiments and design for all living species: Fuorisalone 2024 looks to a green and inclusive future.
At Fuorisalone 2024 nature invades spaces and ideas, takes over new places for a week, and suggests increasingly innovative inspirations. But sustainability is also made up of technology, explosive ideas and bold experiments, to rethink solutions that integrate the environment, well-being and economy in a radical way.
Design week is the best time to discover them all.
Hydro, ph. Einar Aslaksen
100R by Hydro
Norwegian aluminium and energy company Hydro will present the ground-breaking exhibition 100R – a celebration of Hydro CIRCAL 100R - the world’s first recycled aluminium made entirely from post-consumer scrap on an industrial scale. Hydro put Norwegian designer Lars Beller Fjetland in charge of art direction, concept development and strategy for the 100R exhibition. He enlisted designers Inga Sempé, Max Lamb, Andreas Engesvik, Shane Schneck, Rachel Griffin, John Tree and Philippe Malouin, to create design objects made entirely from Hydro’s new recycled aluminium product, on show at Spazio Maiocchi.

Micrographia
Park Associati presents Micrographia –Redesign for Biodiversity, a set of three experimental works by the multidisciplinary design studio Johanna Seelemann. How can we design urban products that are beneficial beyond their human application and can serve several species at once? The title of the show Micrographia comes from the homonymous book by Robert Hookewhich became historically relevant for being the first publication to include illustrations of insects and plants seen through the microscope. Used as a metaphor, the term suggests a wider and more in-depth approach to product design and the design of a living environment that can also be accessible to less obvious urban inhabitants.

Matter in Motion
Located inside Casa Brera, the Grand Seiko space will allow visitors to enjoy an enveloping experience of “forest bathing”: in an area of the location, guests will have the chance to try the Shinrin-yoku, a famous Japanese meditation technique made possible by reproducing a real forest; in the second area, on the other hand, a contemporary, digital environment that aims to evoke the "urban forest", a theater in which matter finds its transformation through human intervention.

Materially NOW
Materially presents a multifaceted format that physically and symbolically places the focus on the study of materials and the work of those companies that, through research, investments, and production, are carrying out a small but great revolution: changing the present to build the future of design. Materially NOW, host inside Superdesign Show, is an exhibition, a forum, an active workshop, and also a networking hub.

Like Trees in the Woods
NichelcromLab invites to experience an immersive installation with a strong scenic impact, born by the dialogue among nature, materials and technology. The visitor is invited to walk through a real oaks wood, typical of the Italian landscape, which is reflected and endlessly replicated thanks to the mirroring effect of the steel that surrounds it.
