The space designed by Parasite 2.0 for the Fondazione Prada Accademia dei bambini is open until mid-June, “a pristine micro-world where they can discover, through play, the importance of kindness and sharing.”
“Let's pretend that…” is the title of the playground which until June 16 transforms Fondazione Prada into a workshop during which children can use unusual materials to transform their bodies and their environment; they can move and assemble primary, soft and colourful architectural forms to create surprising imaginative constructions. Here, pretending to be members of a small tribe, the children who experience the playground learn to exploit and share the available resources to invent a richer and more welcoming world. A threshold, a tent, a spring transform the Accademia dei bambini into a pristine micro-world where they can discover, through play, the importance of kindness and sharing.
Organic shapes, modular and dismantling, assembling and reconfigurable, give life to scenarios to be imagined and interpreted, at the same time teaching awareness of space as an environment that can be designed freely - without forgetting, thanks to hooks, tie rods, volumes and weights, that you still have to respond to some constraints of the real world and, if you are ingenious, you can exploit them for even more imaginative constructions!
The various workshops of the Accademia dei bambini - a project conceived by the neuropediatrician Giannetta Ottilia Latis, who laid the theoretical and operational foundations by taking care of the contents until June 2019 - are dedicated to children and family and are conceived by a different “master”. “Masters” are architects, educators, artists, scientists, directors and musicians who are willing not only to teach, but also to acquire new inspirations. The workshops proposed by the “masters” are then developed by a group of educators coordinated by Marta Motterlini, an expert in museum educational programs. Since September 2019 the program has been curated by the paediatrician neonatologist Gabriele Ferraris and the space was designed by a group of students from the École nationale supérieure d'architecture de Versailles, led by their teachers Cédric Libert and Elias Guenon, continuously taking on new forms adapting to the different programs.
