Design in Parabiago

Milan — 08 October 2024

There is time until Sunday to visit Vanitas, the collective exhibition in the evocative church of Sant’Ambrogio della Vittoria.

The annual exhibition that the BeAlpha association brings to Parabiago in the spaces of the church of Sant’Ambrogio della Vittoria is called Vanitas and brings there a thematic selection of works by contemporary designers and artists - an excellent excuse for a day trip to discover places on the outskirts of Milan. This year's exhibition explores the theme of vanity and the transience of life, drawing inspiration from the vanitas of the 17th century, to reflect on the fragility of existence and ephemeral beauty.

The exhibition, in fact, intends to create a bridge between the artistic reflections of the past and the present, highlighting how materialism and the desire for immediate gratification are current expressions of the same vanity represented in the works of the past, inviting visitors to reconsider our relationship with "things", in search of deeper and more lasting meanings.

The Church of Sant’Ambrogio della Vittoria, whose origins can be traced back to a monastery that had been there since 1339, is today an imposing architecture from the early eighteenth century, consisting of a single nave. This large central space is rich in baroque stuccoes and scenographic frescoes, among which FORO Studio has curated a selection of works by Italian and international designers and artists, including Anna Manako, Barbara Eatutba Fontani, Bruno Petronzi, Fabula Stories, Laure Marie Celine Jeandet, Lodovica Fusco, Lucia Emanuela Curzi, Ludovico Grantaliano, Marco Barazzuoli, Maria Teresa Albano, Marina Comerio, Marlisa Marasco, Martino Camellini, Nuria González Alcaide, Plasma - F, Roberto Bucchi, Sara Artioli, Song E Yoon, Tommaso Campini.
