Immersive artworks, captivating sensory experiences, interactive architecture, and artistic labyrinths: a curated selection of projects spanning design, art, AI, literature, boating, and sustainability throughout the city
LIBRARY OF LIGHT
The Salone del Mobile illuminates the Courtyard of Honour of the Pinacoteca di Brera, where British artist Es Devlin presents "Library of Light”, a monumental circular structure, 18 meters in diameter, made up of illuminated shelves containing over 2,000 books. Within this space, meetings, readings, and performances unfold, blending light, sound, literature, and reflection. The words of Maria Gaetana Agnesi, the only female figure honored with a statue in the Pinacoteca, resonate through Devlin's own voice, interwoven with that of English actor Benedict Cumberbatch, who recites the reflections of theoretical physicist Carlo Rovelli on the concept of time. Surrounding these voices is a constellation of over 2,000 volumes selected and donated by Feltrinelli, centered around the theme “Thought for Humans,” chosen by the Salone del Mobile as the guiding thread of the 2025 edition. Free entry, from 9 AM to 9 PM.

MAKING THE INVISIBLE VISIBLE
Google participates in Design Week with the installation “Making the Invisible Visible,” a project co-created by Ivy Ross, Chief Design Officer of Google Consumer Devices, alongside her design team. In collaboration with light and water artist Lachlan Turczan, they have created an immersive experience that transforms abstract concepts into tangible perceptions. Visitors are welcomed into spaces entirely sculpted by light, where energy replaces physical matter, creating dynamic and evocative environments. By giving light a new sensory dimension, the installation explores a future where form and substance no longer depend on mass, but on the interaction between energy and perception.

PORTANUOVA VERTICAL CONNECTION
A site-specific installation in the heart of Portanuova: an architectural structure made from Layher, designed to be walkable and accessible even at height, offering an unprecedented physical and digital experience. Through an AI system, visitors can interact with the installation and personalize their surrounding environment. With interactive buttons and sensors, it’s possible to modify the content projected onto the video walls, choosing places, colors, and sensations that are transformed into images, sounds, and light patterns. The installation is created by the Evastomper studio, with scientific input from Professor Stefano Mancuso, neurobiologist and expert in botany, who will lead in-depth discussions on environmental impact and urban regeneration.
A LABYRINTH OF SAILS
Wind Labyrinth is an immersive experience that translates the essence of sailing into a captivating sensory journey. Designed by Piero Lissoni for Sanlorenzo, the project is a labyrinth of white sails, mainsails, and jibs—all repurposed through upcycling—that the renowned Italian architect, artistic director of Sanlorenzo since 2018, uses to evoke the sea, wind, and silent navigation. The installation also pays tribute to Sanlorenzo’s recent acquisition of Nautor Swan, a brand synonymous with elegance and high-performance sailing. The setup aims to transport visitors into a dreamlike dimension, where the interplay of light and shadow, the transparency, and fluidity of the sails create a sophisticated and ethereal atmosphere. An emotional journey that expresses Sanlorenzo's vision: to redefine the relationship between humans, nature, and technology through an aesthetic and design language increasingly focused on sustainability.

A MANIFESTO MINI-HOUSE
The designers of studio 5∙5, founded by Claire Renard and Jean-Sébastien Blanc—pioneers of upcycling in France—have created a manifesto house for MUJI. Inspired by Japanese architecture, it offers a creative, evolving, and efficient solution that responds to the desire for tranquility amidst the metropolitan hustle. Every element of this modular structure reflects a synergy between comfort, ingenuity, and environmental responsibility: materials from biological sources, a rainwater recovery system, recycled fabric insulation, and a white roof to reduce heat islands. Set within the Pippa Bacca public garden, designed with biodiversity principles in mind, this installation invites visitors to reconnect with the essentials.

Hotel Voyeur
Seletti's flagship store becomes the stage for a one-of-a-kind installation. Known for its unconventional approach to design, the brand presents “Hotel Voyeur” and the Superfurniture collection by Hello Again, accompanied by a site-specific installation on the store’s facade. Hotel Voyeur explores voyeurism through light and daily life, presenting a lamp that invites reflection on the boundary between intimacy and observation, while Superfurniture reinterprets postmodern furniture in a contemporary key. FOREST LODGE
An installation that recreates the essence of a forest through trees, plants, bark, and natural details blending into an immersive environment. Nardi Forest Lodge is an installation that restores the connection with nature, offering an intimate refuge: an oasis of beauty for a moment of peace and inspiration in the heart of the city. A sensory experience that transports visitors into a natural landscape where the forest becomes a metaphor for a retreat of well-being and harmony. Four private areas, enveloped in light white curtains evoking the shape of a lodge, provide intimate and evocative spaces to relax and interact with one of the new outdoor furniture pieces designed by Raffaello Galiotto for Nardi. A play of light and projections simulates sunlight filtering through the branches, enhancing the sense of tranquility. In this setting, visitors can stroll through the vegetation and let themselves be enveloped by the sounds of nature, fostering a complete connection with the environment and design.

TOKUJIN YOSHIOKA – Frozen
Grand Seiko presents “TOKUJIN YOSHIOKA – Frozen,” a project created in collaboration with one of Japan’s most celebrated designers. Fascinated by the dynamism of nature, Tokujin Yoshioka chose the concept of "water" as his inspiration, giving life to a luminous and transparent sculpture that evolves over time. Visitors to the Fuorisalone will also have the chance to explore the artwork “Aqua Chair,” where crystallized water forms a chair that continuously changes under the influence of light and wind, eventually vanishing, symbolizing the ephemeral nature of both time and water. In parallel, Grand Seiko showcases its Spring Drive creations, which capture the passage of time through a smooth, continuous movement, mirroring the natural cycle of the Earth.
