Space Escape, a collection of pillows and carpets by Elena Salmistraro for Moooi

Elena Salmistraro pays homage to the space age and science fiction in her collaboration with Moooi. The young Milanese designer has designed a collection of pillows and carpets for the Dutch brand that seem to take us into other dimensions. This is how Space Escape was born, a real interstellar journey in search of new horizons and habitable places, because planet Earth is sending out unequivocal signals: it is tired, saturated, and needs a radical change.
 

Space Escape is a story of the unknown. It is the story of everything that is revealed beyond our atmosphere. Space Escape is a dream that starts with Metropolis, passes through Kubrick and George Lucas, feeds on the energy of David Bowie and the Kraftwerk, to get to Mars-one and other very distant journeys.
 

The collection of carpets tell the revolutionary story of our interstellar travels. The designs narrate earth’s plans for a better future that doesn’t involve humankind. It comes in three designs: Draconian, Plejaren & Reptilian. All of them are available in two sizes that are available on three materials: Low Pile Polyamide, Soft Yarn Polyamide and Wool. Revolutionary printing technology creates an endless mix of colours, playful illusions of depth and photo-realistic designs.
