The winners of the 2021 Sony Photography Awards were recently announced, with significant recognition being given to architectural photography, which featured in two key categories of the contest: the Professional and Open Competitions, both dedicated to creative production around the world.
Here are the winners:
- Tomáš Vocelka from the Czech Republic with 'Eternal Hunting Grounds.
A series of photographs exploring a former military complex in his home country that has been transformed into an animal cemetery.
- Klaus Lenzen from Germany with 'The Blue Window', an image depicting a flight of stairs at the Hyatt hotel in Düsseldorf rising towards a window from which the blue sky can be seen.
The overall winner of the contest, the $25,000 cash prize and a range of Sony digital imaging kits is British documentary filmmaker Craig Easton.
Supporting creative photographers of all ages, the Sony World Photography Award also includes prizes in the youth and student categories.
A virtual exhibition has been launched on the organisation's website to view all the photographs and entries submitted to the competition.
