The Arcimboldi Theatre will reopen to the public during the Fuorisalone 2021 in September with the "Vietato l'Ingresso" exhibition.
The Arcimboldi Theatre has unveiled the special initiative that will finally allow it to reopen to the public in a totally unconventional way in September. After a year of forced closure, the well-known Milanese cultural centre will present Vietato l'Ingresso, a project developed in collaboration with some of the most relevant creative voices in design, architecture and interior design.
Under the curatorship of Giulia Pellegrino, 17 interior design studios in Milan will work - starting on 7 June - to give new life to as many of the theatre's dressing rooms, unique and secret places where actors, singers, dancers and musicians prepare to go on stage.
The Arcimboldi Theatre, designed by architect Vittorio Gregotti, thus maintains its vocation for those forms of contemporary art that have made it an iconic place in Milan's cultural life.
The project will be carried out with the support of technical partners, companies and workers, thanks to whom the work will have no impact on the theatre's economy. A virtuous example of how, at a time of great difficulty for the theatre sector, Art comes to support Art. The studios that have joined the project are: Atelierzero, BDGS e Daniela Volpi, Calvi Ceschia Viganò Architetti Associati, DAP Studio, Enrico Scaramellini Architetto, Francesco Rota Architettura, Galante Menichini Architetti, Gio Latis Studio, Lupettatelier, Monica Baio Nicola Quadri, NM Nick Maltese, Paolo Volpato e Caterina Steiner, Park Associati, RGA studio, Studio .Cagnato, SenseLab, studio wok.
To link and guide this journey through seventeen worlds of the imagination, the KÄRLANDRÆ studio will refurbish the corridor on the dressing room level, Laufen with DFA Partners will refurbish all the bathrooms in the theatre, and there will be a special focus on the foyer, an exceptional meeting place for the company and the theatre workers with their audience.

On the occasion of the Fuorisalone, from 5 September, the new author's dressing rooms will be open to the public until 27 September. The space will be open all day with bar and restaurant services. It will be possible to experience the theatre's transformation project in person and vote (online) for the best dressing room. At the end of the initiative, the results of this contest will determine the winning studio that will be commissioned to renovate the "Camerino Muti" dedicated to the famous Maestro d'Orchestra, the theatre's main dressing room that has so far hosted major national and international show business stars.
