EricsOne, an artist from Milan whose work is characterised by his unmistakable style ‘street cubism’, partners with Saucony Originals for a huge 80 square metre canvas in the Brera Design District, the beating heart of the city. The mural, which symbolises Saucony’s commitment to the city and its return to the new normal, takes inspiration from the Shadow 6000 and embodying the power of expression and creativity at a time when people finally get to re-emerge and connect.
Officially unveiled on September 4th during the design week, the colourful piece will bring vibrant energy to the area for over a month and is made entirely by hand using sustainable colours and materials. The piece interprets the ‘Living the future Metropolies’ concept of the 2021 edition of Milan Design Week, and the wall art celebrates Saucony and the Shadow 6000’s strong connection with design and creativity and hopes to inspire and celebrate our newfound togetherness.
The Shadow 6000 initially launched in 1991 and represents iconic sneaker heritage and authentic style. Originally designed for running performance, the anniversary sees the launch of limited-edition updates on the classic. Launching on September 6th during Design Week, the Shadow 6000 OG, with prime leather and suede uppers as well as a new PWRRUN compound for the midsole, feels super lightweight with extra-soft comfort. The chunky profile of the Shadow 6000 also makes this a trend-right style staple and is authentically part of sneaker culture.
Wearing a pair of Saucony sneakers, means wearing a piece of American History. Founded in 1898 in a small workshop in Pennsylvania, Saucony has long specialized in the production of high-quality and high-performance running shoes, earning the company the respect, trust and loyalty of countless athletes and running enthusiasts around the world. Saucony is the name of the river that flows in Kutztown where it all originated. The iconic logo, the river, symbolizes its waters. The three points that run along the river represent the three boulders around which the waters flow in that place but also the key values of Originals: authenticity, uniqueness, quality.
Saucony Originals represents real sneaker heritage. Drawing from Saucony’s impressive catalogue of 123 years’ worth of archive styles, the collection reinvents the most iconic sneakers from its history. Colourful, comfortable and always relevant, the Originals icons are not only reinvented and re-designed, they also form part of limited editions and collaborations that help fuel sneaker culture and celebrates the heritage of this authentic brand. And therefore, the Jazz, Shadow and Grid - just to name a few – have earned their rightful place in fashion, sneaker culture and our feet.
To celebrate the anniversary of the iconic style, Shadow 6000 will take centre stage this season at Saucony Originals. Following the launch at design week, it will feature in their global campaign which will see the brand partner with talents from all over the world that share its values of creative expression, individuality and authentic style.
The original open-air wall by EricsOne will feature in Corso Garibaldi 71, Milan, from 4 to 30 September 2021.
