The interview

A conversation with Calvi Brambilla

How do you prepare for this event?
_

We are completing Antonio Lupi’s new showroom, in via di Porta Tenaglia, which will double its size stretching itself all the way to face Parco Sempione: a project based entirely on the design of the ceiling. We will also do something special for Zanotta, in Piazza XXV Aprile, where during the last Design Week in October the new showroom opened with an installation that tries to interpret the different forms of contemporary domestic life.

What does the Fuorisalone mean to you?
_

We started living the Fuorisalone when we were university students and it has thrilled us to the point that it has become part of our professional life. The key thing we learned from Milan Design Week is: use a bike or a Vespa.

And what does the Fuorisalone mean for Milan?
_

Even before the Expo and all the other events that today are part of the Milanese event schedule, Fuorisalone has contributed to progressively transform Milan. It was not very welcoming place until a few years ago, and now its an international city, culturally lively and pleasant to live.
